THE LEGION SONG
(A tribute song to soldiers, past and present, serving in the Armed Forces)
I'm proud to say, I wear blue and grey
To honour soldiers we've deployed
Some gave their all, all gave their best
For the freedoms we enjoy
For the young and old, and those in between
Their memories must live on
For the battles fought, and battles won
For the soldiers who are gone
On land and sea, and in the air
They served their country well
They fought so hard, they fought so long
Until their enemies fell
So remember all we have today
Was earned with sweat and blood
By some of Canada's finest
For a country that they love
From Avion to Passendale
from Vimy to the Somme
Ortona, Kap'yong & D-day
So many did not come home
In France, Britain and Germany
Many more were lost
They fought for what they knew was right
No matter what the cost
And for soldiers who've helped keep the peace
Until this very day
In countries like Afghanistan
For them, we always pray
So wear your Legion uniform
With pride and dignity
For all the rights and freedoms
That they've earned for you and me
Always to remember
And never to forget
Is the motto that our Legions use
And always............... thank a vet!
